Department of Agricultural Biotechnology

General Information

Agricultural Biotechnology Department was established in 2011 with the law of 606 coded by Higher Education Council. Agricultural Biotechnology Department is a part of Faculty of Agriculture.

Biotechnology, which is rapidly developing and applied in many fields, has emerged as the result of genetics, molecular biology and cell biology and many other interdisciplinary studies. One of the main duties and objectives of the Faculty of Agriculture is to carry out educational and research activities in order to grow and develop biological inputs in the best way in agriculture. Although the classical breeding methods used especially in the development of plants and animals have provided important services to agriculture and humanity to this day, biotechnological methods allow more efficient and efficient spending of time and funds in this development. In addition, biotechnology can allow many developmental studies that cannot be considered with classical methods.

In the developing world, interdisciplinary studies constitute the basis and most efficient of scientific research. Therefore, The cooperation of applied agricultural fields with basic sciences, biology, chemistry and etc., gives very effective results. The main fields of study of the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology, which covers all branches of agriculture, are Plant Biotechnology, Enzyme and Microbial Biotechnology and Animal Biotechnology, which covers molecular biology, genetic engineering, genomics, proteomics, molecular breeding, genetic transformation techniques, detection of genetic changes and tissue culture.

Mission

The mission of the Agricultural Biotechnology Department/Program is to educate engineers equipped with the ability to accelerate the developments in agriculture in the direction of developments in the world by using different disciplinary approaches in the field of agricultural biotechnology.

Vision

Our vision is to become a reputable department in the national and international field with its education in the field of agricultural biotechnology and internationally recognized for its research.
