General Information

Field Crops Department is located in Ali Numan Kıraç campus of Eskisehir Osmangazi University. Field Crops Department in Agricultural Faculty of Eskisehir Osmangazi University which was founded in 1995, started the educiation in 2002. Field Crops Department represents the large parts of plant production in Turkey. Researches related with breeding, agronomy, tissue culture and biotechnology of cereals and food legumes, industrial crops, meadow-pasture and forage crops, plant ecology, sustainable agriculture, organic farming, seed, biodiversity, conservation of plant genetic resources and other issues along with agronomy and crop sciences have been conducted. To conduct research in line with of universal values using science and technology; raise individuals equipped with creative, enterprising, open to cooperation and tolerantly productive and to present all these individuals to the service of the community. In department, undergraduate and postgraduate educations at field crops have been given. At the end of post-graduate education, Master of Science degree will be obtained.

Employment Possibilities of The Graduates

Agricultural Engineers who graduated from our department could found a vacancy in the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Husbandry of Turkish Republic, the Ministry of Forest and Water Affairs, public and private banks, The Central Union of Turkish Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, sugar factories, municipalities, private seed companies, factories producing flour, semolina, oil etc., pesticide companies, dealer of seed, fertilizer and pesticide, seller of medicinal herbs. In addition, they can establish their own businesses and production facilities.


Department Facilities

5 professors, 3 associate professors, 3 assistant professors and 4 research assistants in the Field Crops Department. Field Crops Department possesses 120 da of Experimental and Practice field at ESOGU Agricultural Faculty of Ali Numan Kıraç Campus. In addition, Oil Analysis, Quality, Seed Science and Technology, Cytology laboratory existed. Applied-training should be supplied by using these facilities.


Goal of the Program

Training undergraduate and postgraduate level to meet the qualified technical staffs of both private and public institutions, by taking into consideration the needs of farmers and agricultural industry, to conduct researches on solving the problems encountered both variety and agronomy in local-regional-and country wide and creating solutions, to develop advanced information and technology in the field crops.

  • The ability to use theoretical and applied knowledge modern cultivation techniques related to cereals, edible legumes, industrial crops, meadow, pasture and forage crops
  • To knowledge about quality, standardization, storage and marketing of field crops
